"I have published 3 novels. Heather's cover is a vital part of the success of the books, if not the major one. Many readers are impressed with them. She's has depicted the summary of my novels and my ideas on the cover. I am happy to work with her."

"This was my first foray into the world of self-publishing and I was delighted to have the benefit of Heather's experience and creative energy in bringing my project to a successful conclusion. The internal layout of the books is excellent and I love the covers Heather designed for both Black Rigg and The Cold Blast. She involved me in the process from the beginning, working intuitively to produce attractive designs that accurately convey a sense of the narrative inside. "
"Even though I came up with an original design for my book cover, I was advised to use a professional designer. That’s when I chose to work with Heather at Raspberry Creative Type. What an inspired choice this has turned out to be. Heather took my own cover design and within a few days had reworked it into a few new versions. One of these versions really caught my eye and together we tweaked it until it perfectly reflected the mood of my book. Heather also handled the typesetting for my book and magically converted it from manuscript to novel. Working with Heather was an enjoyable experience as she was inventive, helpful and quick to answer my many questions. I can, without hesitation, recommend Heather and I look forward to working with her on future projects. "
BROUGHT TO LIFE BY BANDITS
"Working with Heather has been a pleasure from start to finish, and she combines serious professional skill with an enthusiastic, encouraging attitude. Her typesetting of my novel, Ellen and Arbor, simply couldn’t have been done to a higher standard, and she even managed to incorporate one of my own illustrations into the unique cover design of my dreams! Whatever you’re working on, your book will be in very safe hands."
ELLEN AND ARBOR
"Heather has been a joy to work with on my first book. She produced a range of alternatives initially, on a sample of pages, so that a style may be selected. Once the style was determined Heather progressed through the chapters as they were supplied over a period of some months. With care Heather built the book for me. The photographic contents are very important and I was looking for good quality and ‘feel’. The book layout produced by Heather is great, very appealing … to receive each chapter was very exciting. Little niggles were easily ironed out with Heather’s detailed manner. I love the cover design! Her professional approach will certainly mean a return to Raspberry Creative Type for my next book."

‘I was very happy to have Heather as designer of my second and third books too. Careful in her work, I found she added a new dimension each time.’

I published To The Woods in 2004.
The paperback version was alright, whilst the Amazon print-on-demand and Kindle versions were disappointing, to say the least. I cut too many corners and didn’t take advice from professionals. I wanted to republish the book in various formats in 2020.
Heather helped me redesign the book, added a number of photos and much better maps; sourced some great photos; produced a wonderful cover; introduced me to very good printers; changed the font to great effect; and generally made the whole process a delight.
The book has now been republished in different formats. It looks and reads a whole lot better, thanks in large part to Heather’s efforts.
TO THE WOODS
"I found Heather via a recommendation from the Scottish Book Trust. And what a find!
Infinitely patient, Heather provided a range of inspired and varied book cover designs for me to choose from. Her ability to capture the essence of Siege of the Northland with minimal information was quite remarkable. With timely responses to queries and requests, Heather succeeded in making this process an informative and enjoyable journey.
I constantly use this cover design in my marketing and promotional efforts, as I have witnessed what a positive effect this image has on potential readers/buyers.
Heather also provided a first-class typesetting service; which ensured that Siege of the Northland had a truly professional feel both inside and out.
I hope to work with Heather again in 2018, when Book 2 in The Northland Series will be ready for release."
"One of the best in the business,
Heather’s commitment, creativity and professionalism ensures a successful project every time. Her design work is second to none. Always a joy to work with, looking forward to future productions."
ALYSSA POPIEL, THE BOOK OF BEASTIES
"After spending quite some time looking around online for someone to design the cover of a book that I was self-publishing I came across Heather Macpherson and Raspberry Creative Type - and I am so glad I did! From start to finish working with Heather has been great. I gave the barest of bare descriptions of what I was looking for and straight off the bat Heather came back with a cover that was even better than I had even imagined. I found Heather's attention to detail and the inclusion of touches that had not even occurred to me so inspiring. I really felt like my book cover was in safe hands and I could not be happier with the result. I would heartily recommend Heather and plan on using her services for all my future ventures!"
EVITA O'MALLEY, Doubts and Dilemmas
"Heather Macpherson of Raspberry Creative Type is not only a fabulous designer, but a pleasure to work with. She listened carefully to the various and somewhat vague ideas I had for my book's cover and quickly generated several different and engaging designs. All were attractive and it was difficult to select a winner. But when I did, she rapidly produced a final package that included a front cover, a full jacket (harmoniously blending front, back and spine) and even a 3D version of the book itself. Heather's fees are very reasonable, and to top it off, we have never met nor spoken. The job was done from start to finish via email across the Atlantic."
KEN SONENCLAR, AUTHOR OF BOMBS & BELIEVERS
"After a couple of years spent trying to find a traditional publisher for my first novel, I decided to be brave and self-publish. Heather was recommended to me by another writer and she was the perfect book designer, cover designer and typesetter for a fledgling author like myself. Heather has now designed and typeset all three of my novels. She is encouraging and creative, friendly and professional. She listens carefully to what I want and works very hard to get everything just right. It's hard to express just how helpful and supportive she is when I am going through the daunting task of publishing a book.
I love the covers Heather designs for me and the interior layouts are extremely attractive as well. One reviewer started their review by commenting on how beautifully my paperbacks had been designed, typeset and put together! It's this creative flair and attention to detail that makes Heather such a great person to work with."
LIZ TREACHER, AUTHOR OF
THE WRONG ENVELOPE
"Heather finds the 'spirit' of a book quickly and translates it into a cover design that cannot fail to capture attention and suggest the right atmosphere of what might be inside. She accepts an author's ideas, but you can be sure she'll adapt them along more brilliant lines of her own. It's like a writer working with a great film director: she shoots the scene you had in your head, but adds Oscar-winning elements you never thought of."
ROGER HARVEY, AUTHOR OF

"The Islands Book Trust recommended Heather to me for my first self-published book. She did the whole package: typesetting, design and the cover. It was a technical book, low in image but with a great deal of linguistic complexity. Throughout, Heather was an absolute delight to work with. She suggested a brilliant font, and has the patience and experience to shepherd a publishing novice - combined with a nice sense of humour. She also kept her cool as I added extra paragraphs in the final minute of the final hour, and helped me through the printing process. I certainly hope to use her company again. Highly recommended!"
DR JOHN HOLLIDAY, ISLAND OF TIREE
"Heather has been fantastic work with, producing the cover design for my novel Slander & Doubt and then formatting for print, epub (non-Kindle ebook) and mobi (Kindle). My novel is challenging and confronting and it needed Heather's thoughtful and thought-provoking cover design to bring it and its message to life. All my test-reviewers have given a big "wow" thumbs-up, here's hoping the broader public does the same.
All Heather's work has been timely and professional, painlessly working through the design and formatting processes however painful the minutiae are, and offering helpful suggestions outside of the strict brief that I gladly took on board. I look forward to working with her again and recommend her work to others."
ALISTAIR BAILLIE, AUTHOR OF 'SLANDER & DOUBT'
"Heather is an artist of true talent and a responsive business woman who was wonderful to work with on every level. As an indie author, I know how important it is to have a professional, eye catching cover and Heather delivered that and more. The only drawback was deciding between all her wonderful options she provided -- each one was so different and creative it was nearly impossible to choose! She was able to interpret my ideas, take them to the next level, and then offer covers I would have never considered. When thinking of who to hire for my next novel I wouldn't consider using anyone but Raspberry Creative Type."
MUFFI BEYER, AUTHOR OF 'EXILE'
"Our illustrated guide book “Arran for Families”was our first venture into self publishing. The help from Raspberry Creative Type in preparing it for printing, and with subsequent publicity material has been invaluable."
DAVID AND JOYCE HILTON OF 'ARRAN FAMILIES'
“I was very impressed with Heather’s ability to read Hell Bunker and create a cover that captured the real essence of the story. Additionally, the rest of the cover is somewhat abstract, but after reading the story the reader will understand her vision and interpretation even more clearly. I’m eager to see Heather’s artistic impressions on my next project that will be coming out in April 2013.”
TERRENCE RULES, AUTHOR OF 'HELL BUNKER'
"I have worked with Heather for many years and have always appreciated her creativity and her work ethic. She can take my weird, ill-thought out and badly communicated ideas and turn them into something spectacular. She had made me look good for well over a decade! I can´t recommend her highly enough."
